With so much fun going on and events happening over the 4th of July weekend, it’s also a good idea to play safe and following are some ideas on how to be safe on the 4th of July.
Ways to be safe on July 4th:
- Keep fireworks away from children and always to light fireworks in an open area with no dry trees or building around that could potentially catch on fire. Make sure to use lighters that have child proofing on them to avoid having kids light any fireworks. Always supervise child when around fireworks and make sure that they are viewing them responsibly.
- Alcohol is pretty much a given when it comes to 4th of July celebrations, but make sure to keep it away from children, avoid abusing when kids are present, and don’t let any person who has been drinking drive a vehicle. Celebrations are often times when we forget some of the basic society regulations and abandoned them for the thrill of seeking fun, but it’s never a good idea to mix alcohol with fire and the two can be a deadly combination.
- Where eye protection if a person is going to light or be around fireworks. There are times when the devices malfunction or spray out so it’s a good idea to wear protective glasses to avoid damaging eyes.
- Use only legal fireworks. This may be obvious to most, but some people like to use illegal fireworks as a means to have fun, but they were probably ban for good reason so it’s smart to avoid using fireworks that are illegal and dangerous to people around them.
- Keep pets indoor or away from fireworks. Often pets try to be right into things, but that can get them hurt as they may try to chase or grab a lit firework and end up causing damage to the pet.
- Avoid wearing lose clothing as this could be potential for catching on fire as something may be hanging to low or lose and get caught in the sparks or ignition.
